About Us

We looked all over the south of England for the right pub in the right location and we're very pleased with our choice. The building is a 300 year old coaching inn and has great character, as do the regulars. Our plan was to spend a few weeks getting everything how we want it but the local grapevine seems to work extraordinarily well here for the real ale and even more so for the food.

Busy is good though, people frowned on us taking on a pub when so many are closing but I have great confidence in Minty's cooking and when she was working such long hours as chef in my local in Ringwood I never got to see anything of her. Life at the Waggon works very well for us with Minty in the kitchen and me at the bar. It's good for us as a couple and we're building a happy team around us with the rest of the staff.
